I have a 96 bmw 325i and what generallly happens is that my car will be going fine, until i hit traffic. When i get stuck in stop and go traffic my car would take a while to shift to second. It would rev to 4-5k then mayb shift, this wold cause my engine tempt to rise. Any ideas why this is happening?

Create a video blog…instantly.

Assuming that you’ve checked the transmission fluid level, the transmission bands may need replacing or adjustment. And the valve body that controls the shifts may need cleaning or rebuilding. When the transmission bands slip, rather than grip and engage, heat is built up from the excess friction and transfers to the coolant that cools your engine in addition to the transmission. Your transmission may need adjustment or rebuilding at this point. By the way, when it comes to service and repair, BMW doesn’t stand for Bavarian Motor Werks, it stands for Bring My Wallet………
