Can the offset of wheels be changed from a 40 to a 43 offset for my BMW 03 330ci?

by Reed on December 12, 2009

I purchased some wheels for my car on ebay. They state that they manufacture wheels. I was told that in order for the rear wheels to fit properly, they would have to change the offset from a 40 offset to a 43 offset. Does this make sence to any one? Is it possible to do this to wheels already manufactured or could they do this when manufacturing the wheel?

they use spacers or adaptors and quite frankly that is NOT adviseable especially for a car that has cornering-performance capabilities.

if you have a BMW and are looking to enhance the rims (larger or better than stock you should be buying them from a company with a GUARANTEED FITMENT POLICY and that bolt directly onto the car – no spacers – no adapters.

perhaps like here

you pay so much to have your car serviced, maintained, repaired, why would you consider going cheap and poorly fitting on aftermarket wheels?

Are BMW manual transmissions less popular these days?

by Reed on December 9, 2009

Rod O asked:

We just got back from test driving a 08 BMW 328i Coupe. It had a 6-Speed STEPTRONIC Automatic Transmission with manual capability. My wife and I want a manual transmission as they are more fun to drive.

The sales folks at the dealership told us that the majority of people want this automatic system and that is why dealers order their stock cars with the Steptronic.

Isn’t a manual transmission for a BMW not the logical choice for the ultimate driving machine???

What a nice car though. I could be happy with either transmission but looks like they’ll have to do a dealer search.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

2008 BMW M3 exhaust? ?

by Reed on December 8, 2009

I want to put an aftermarket exhaust on my new BMW 2008 M3 convertible coupe. What kind will give it a deeper sound and make it sound mean?

Congrats on your E93, that’s a mean car you’ve got there.

Currently the only E93 exhaust I know of is the Active Autowerke system. It’ll run you about $2,700 for the whole system, plus assuming you want the software to let it run at it’s full potential it can be more. It’ll provide somewhere around +15hp more than stock, it weighs 12lbs less than the stock exhaust, and it gives it that beautiful Active Autowerke sound. It will probably void your warranty, though. I’d wait a few months for the price to go down and more options to come out, though.

What is the name of the original exhaust fitted to a 1998 bmw M3 Evolution coupe?

by Reed on December 8, 2009

go to www.realoem.com and type in either the last 7 of the VIN or else drill down through the menus by body, year, model, engine, transmission.. then go to the exhaust system category.

This site is great as it shows pictures and lists part numbers for everything on the car.
