I’m a student and I have 5000-6000$ to buy my first car.I’ve been looking for a while for a good car and I’ve come down to the BMW 318I.I live in Canada and I might get this car at the 200 000 km mark.I know that owning a car with the much km isn’t safe but I only want to keep this car for 5 years max.I know that having a BMW I should expect to pay heavy money to repair some parts but I’m ready to pay the price.I just want to know if this car isn’t going to die on me,is this a reaible car?
Thanks!
Any car with that much mileage (uh…km-age?) is a bit of a crap shoot. If it’s been properly maintained it’s got a better chance of lasting longer, but there’s no guarantees. BMWs are not known to be exceptionally reliable (I’m basing this on Consumer Reports), but how long the particular car you’re looking at will last (out of countless thousands that were built) is subject to a certain amount of random chance which might work for or against your favor.
If you really want it and are okay with the possibility of expensive repairs, go for it.
If you are more concerned about reliability — what car will last me the most miles with minimum repairs (or more accurately, which car is most LIKELY to) — you are better off getting a Honda or Toyota will less miles.

I’m 19, making pretty good money and want to buy a nice car. Will the car break down a lot? What would typically break down and how expensive is it because I know BMW parts are pricey. I want to go luxury, you think its a good idea?
how much CJ? Also, I forgot to ask, how many miles you think it would last? Something in the 100-140k mileage range at $4000-$8000.
I take it you mean 100 to 140 thousand miles. It has been a long time since BMW stopped making cars that were good to own after they went off warranty. I would recommend something else. If you don’t like my advice, can I interest you in a 325is automatic with 93K miles, red with black leather, sunroof, traction control, trip computer, and dual zone climate control?

Ladies, if you had to choose would you rather sit in a automatic BMW 325Ci automatic or a VW GTI Manual or it doesn’t really matter. I included URL’s that have the pictures.

Make: BMW
Model: 525i
Year: 1990
Mileage: 125000 Kms. (78000 Miles)
I purchased the car recently. The Exhaust of the car makes too much sound. What could be the reason? do I have to change that or Is there any leakage from the exhaust pipe? Any suggestions would help.
Thanks.
Saabir.
Go to a reputable exhaust place, one that you might know of that won’t say replace as soon as you walk in. Have hem inspect, and request they show you what they find. If mufflers noisy, then most likely will need replacing anyways.
