I’m a student and I have 5000-6000$ to buy my first car.I’ve been looking for a while for a good car and I’ve come down to the BMW 318I.I live in Canada and I might get this car at the 200 000 km mark.I know that owning a car with the much km isn’t safe but I only want to keep this car for 5 years max.I know that having a BMW I should expect to pay heavy money to repair some parts but I’m ready to pay the price.I just want to know if this car isn’t going to die on me,is this a reaible car?
Thanks!
Any car with that much mileage (uh…km-age?) is a bit of a crap shoot. If it’s been properly maintained it’s got a better chance of lasting longer, but there’s no guarantees. BMWs are not known to be exceptionally reliable (I’m basing this on Consumer Reports), but how long the particular car you’re looking at will last (out of countless thousands that were built) is subject to a certain amount of random chance which might work for or against your favor.
If you really want it and are okay with the possibility of expensive repairs, go for it.
If you are more concerned about reliability — what car will last me the most miles with minimum repairs (or more accurately, which car is most LIKELY to) — you are better off getting a Honda or Toyota will less miles.

I am a mechanic and I am gonna do a friends brakes(rotors, pads) and he also needs the tie rod ends done. He has a 2001 bmw 740li.
Does anyone know where I can get aftermarket parts for it? I am used to working on audi’s so I am not exactly sure where to get bmw stuff. He needs the pads with the sensors in them.
Thank You
Like the guy above me, Bavauto.com is the place to go for aftermarket parts. Or if your friend has big money to spend, Dinancars.com offers all of Dinan’s aftermarket parts, and unlike other aftermarket parts, Dinan parts can actually help the resale.
As for replacement parts, Realoem.com has everything you’ll need, and more. It is a very helpful site, and even has diagrams.

I have a 2000 bmw 328ci with a manual transmission, i want to improve its performance but the engine has over 100k miles so i dont know if i can turbo my car or not. I dont have a lot money but, i want to find the best details to make my car much better
you can check out these sites if you wanna get the most for the money:
bavauto.com
modbargains.com
umnitza.com (they are mostly for angel eyes but they also have some cold air intake)
Ebay (sometimes you can find some good stuff)
6cyl engine could be supercharged but its a lot of $$$ ESS superchargers have them for your car but its like 5000 bucks i think.. in my opinion too much
Go for the easy stuff like cold air intake, maybe a dinan chip and a good exhaust. i personally like Remus Exhaust, its the best.. i put one on my 528i, same engine as yours… big difference and sounds good.
all these should increase your HP like 15%

How much cash do i need to afford an used 14000$ bmw?
i do not have enough right now. im wondering how i should finance. i got 5000$ and only make 730$ a month(part time 17 hrs
). i can spend all my money on the car becuase i dont pay for living expense. im only 20 years old. i dont plan on getting another job because of college. wha would be a good downpayment area?
I’m only 22 and I can see your being wasteful. Should take that money and save it and put it on a down payment for a house. Then when you have that house paid off buy your car. Maybe take that money and start paying student loans off or pay for more schooling…unless you got a free ride.
Due to the fact you have no real job. I’m guessing you’re not going to get many banks to finance you, unless you have a co-signer. Even if you do get a co-signer you’re only 20 and high risk. You’ll have to get a loan for 9,000 and all the other taxes that come along…maybe warranty. They’ll bring it to about 11,000…you’ll be paying about 300-350 a month. But remember you’ll pay interest first, and no principle. Depending on 3 or 5 year loan. Now you have to remember about car insurance. Since a bank is financing it you’ll have to get Full liability coverage. That will hike up your payments to the roof. Hopefully you have been a good driver and have a bunch of discounts. If not, you’ll eat up every bit of your monthly wage for this car. Forget eating, and gas. You’ll probably go back to begging parents for Ramen soup money. Ha ha, sorry man like I said I’m 22, been there 2 years ago. Thankfully I didn’t go thru with it.

but don’t want to see it go.. the engine and transmission and everything on it is good.. but just don’t want to put the money into it to repair it. so i’m looking to see if i can just swap out the good parts.. i’ve been looking for another 740 but can’t really come across anything.
just wondering if the parts can be used on a different model?
you can use panels of any e38(7 series)728,730,735,740,750 from 1994 upto 1997 but the rear doors must be of a limo.
