I know MINI are now owned by BMW after their purchase from Rover but my mate seems to think that all new MINI’s have BMW engines in them. Can someone please confirm that although they are owned by BMW, MINI are in fact their own company and as such make their own engines, chassis and other parts and only use BMW for funding and design ability.
Theyve got beemer engines mate..

What’s a good mail order site for BMW parts?
I’m specifically after used or refurbished parts for a 325 and 328.
For used/refurb parts: Bavarian Auto Recycling: http://www.bmrparts.com/
For new parts: Tischer BMW usually has the lowest prices: http://www.getbmwparts.com/
BavAuto is also a good source as mentioned above but Tischer prices on OEM parts are usually lower.

Can I buy a brand new car (BMW) without buying the wheels?
I plan to buy custom wheels for it.
NO! When you buy a vehicle, any vehicle, it has to be road worthy right off the show room floor. You can buy the car, then take the car to a tire and wheel shop and sell the tires and wheels to the shop. Personally, having an extra set of wheels and tires for winter use is a smart way to go, unless you live somewhere that doesn’t have inclement weather in the winter, like SanDiego, CA. You can also sell the wheels and tires on Craigslist and put that money towards the purchase of the new ones.

If my BMW has standard 16" factory wheels and I put brand new 18" alloys on them will I?
If my BMW has standard 16" factory wheels and I put brand new 18" alloys on them will I have to also change the calipers and disk brakes all round?
I was reading in a book that chav’s always make the mistake of putting a fancy body kit and huge wheels but leaving on the tiny factory brakes?
I am not sure if this applies to a BMW, its not the latest one its just a 3 series. But I want to make sure I do it right.
Thanks.
Hi
No, you do not need to change your brakes, there’s no need as the callipers, pads and discs you have are not influenced by the size of the wheel.
The only reason you may want to change them is so that they look better, a purely cosmetic reason.
The bottom of the range current 3 Series in Europe is the 316i, it comes with 16 inch wheels, however, the 18 or 19 inch wheels can be specified from new without BMW making any changes to the brakes.

how do i remove and install a new 2000, BMW hood emblem? Thank you for your answer on mirrors brod 894!?
brod 894 i assume i install the new glass mirror in reverse!?!?
Very carefully put a small screwdriver underneath the Roundel and lift it a little. Make sure you put something in between the screwdriver and the hood of the car to keep from scratching the hood. As you lift the Roundel, slide a credit card into the space you have created and push the card as far down as it will go. Then pull on the outward on the card to create a space you can put another card into in the other half of the Roundel. Use these cards that are now under the Roundel to work the Roundel out. It is held in place by 2 pins that fit inside to rubber fittings that are inserted into the two holes in the hood of the car which are behind the Roundel. There are no adhesives involved.
